That's a good list of traders. I note that a few of them were "standard" attendee's at the old Scalefour north.

With a scalefour  (North?) event now happening at Crewe just one week after Railex, and taking into account the current economic situation, it makes me wonder how many of those dual attendee traders will decide to only attend the more remunerative railex.

The Charwelton into the 80s team are looking forward to making the trip south to Railex with the big trainset.

If you are attending the show then please say hi to the team.

We have a vintage bus running again from Aylesbury Railway station to the stadium on both days. I have just been working up the floor plan and everything fits!

A slight change this year we are unable to use the main entrance door in to the hall as we have in the past so entry will be at a side entrance directly into the exhibition but be well sign posted on the day.

Does the change to the access point have any implications on the catering arrangements ?

Ray

I think there will still be exit out of the main hall in to the catering area using the original entrance exit.  The stadium want to avoid any congestion with the users of the gym and swimming pool on the front counter, hence we need to have our entrance in a different place.

Is the café still doing the cooked breakfast?

I am not sure, the café management has changed since we last did the show, which probably means that what we tell them to expect on numbers that they are never prepared on the day.  Our layout exhibitors lunches and eating area has had to be adjusted this year too.

I am sure there will be a meeting before the show so maybe I can advise what will be on offer closer to the weekend.

Hi,

How do we buy tickets in advance and what are the prices for these?

The website says "We shall again offer advanced tickets prior to the event; they will be available from March to the beginning of May 2023." but doesn't say where to go.

http://www.railex.org.uk/railexDirections.php

Thank you.

Hi,

apologies but we will unfortunately not be offering advance tickets for Railex this year.  We have now amended the website to reflect this situation.

Thank you for your interest.

Hello gazzaday

Could you confirm (as per website) that tickets can be purchased on the day up to 45 minutes prior to opening?

Many thanks

Brian

We intend to sell tickets 30 minutes in advance of the exhibition opening.  We will update the Railex website accordingly.

And after my post of March 23rd, seems there will be no N gauge layout this year as James Street (and other layouts) have had to be cancelled due to the hall they are having to use being too small. We are booked in for next year though. Not sure how it got this late before realising……

Have they all gone then?

2mm Scale

Bath Engine Shed, 9.42mm gauge, Exhibited by Jerry Clifford,

Freshwater, 9.42mm Gauge, Exhibited by Ian Morgan, Freshwater was the western terminus of the 12 mile long Freshwater, Yarmouth and Newport Railway on the Isle of Wight. Opened in 1888, the Southern Railway lengthened the platform, removed the loco shed and carriage shed, and modified the track layout slightly in 1927, but the line was never very successful, and closed as early as 1953.

James Street, N gauge, Exhibited by Steve Wright, BR Steam and green diesels

Kyle of Lochalsh, 9.42mm Gauge, Exhibited by Pete Matcham, The layout era begins late 70s to capture the overlap between class 24s and class 26s with the gradual replacement by class 37/4s. The rolling stock modelled, all being visitors to Kyle.

Modbury, 2mm Scale, Exhibited by Ian Smith, Modbury is a 2mm Finescale layout representing a Great Western "might have been" through station as it might have appeared c.1906. The layout has a small traintable type fiddle yard at each end of a scenic section.

Penworth, N gauge, Exhibited by Mark Butler,

Last week, we were informed the sports hall we usually use for the exhibition will not be available owing to the floor being replaced over a 2 month period commencing April 24th. We will now be holding the exhibition in the adjacent Indoor Bowls Hall. This is slightly smaller and we have worked hard over the last week to rearrange the floor plan  to accommodate our booked layouts and Traders.

Regrettably it has not been possible to include everybody and we have had to withdraw invitations to Beijiao by Paul Stapleton and James Street by Steve Wright. We are grateful to both for their understanding in this unfortunate situation forced on us by circumstances beyond our control. Both layouts have been invited to attend in 2024.

As you can imagine the change of hall just a few weeks before  the show is not want we planned but it was either use this alternative hall or cancel, but with adverts and diary dates having been published in magazines we decided to rearrange using the alternative space that was offered.

The bowls area is not one level space and is slightly raised around the perimeter on four sides which we are using to view the layouts from with the traders located in the centre area of the hall.  James Street requires viewing on four sides which we would not be able to achieve with the way we have had to arrange the hall.

After last year when the stadium double booked us and we had to cancel, we thought we were back to normal but with the spanner in the work this year with the change of hall forced on us  on, we still have a great show on offer with all the Railex brand values you would expect.

That looks... interesting. A bit of an unusual challenge for planning an exhibition.

I hope you manage to get it all sorted out satisfactorily, though. I'm sure it will be just as enjoyable as a visitor.
