PenrithBeacon
I have used silicon grease from Eileen's for this. I haven't noticed any deterioration in plastic gear wheels, but then they are hidden away which is the reason for using grease! Perhaps a non-answer, sorry.
RMweb Premium PJT Posted October 16, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2021 Labelle 102 gear oil for me. It's a proper gear oil, with PTFE additive, plastic and nylon compatible and comes with a very fine applicator that helps prevent accidentally swamping the mechanism. I've used it on all my locos for several decades and I know there are quite a few on RMweb here who, like me, swear by the stuff. Pete T. 2

They are not the cheapest, but are superb. Roy

I think.... :-) Mine has been in storage for a little while, I've been reading the lubrication suggestions and making notes...

I have reasonably fine but not ridiculous oo gauge track work, with hand built points and smp plain track. Hornby Peckett, Hattons Barclay, Dapol b4 etc etc all fine without a murmur. Y1 seems to struggle through crossings and derail round a curve / over a bridge almost like back to back too big? any one with any suggestions ? thanks in advance Dave J Hi Dave. Pretty certain the wheels are push fitted into each other on plastic stubb axles. They could have been squeezed in a smidge. Perhaps the axes have been split? Spares are available from here.... https://www.dccsupplies.com/shop/sentinel-oo-gear-axle-20t/ Rob.

No Decorum
If I recall correctly, DJ did the work on these. Unlike a lot of his later stuff, these are super little models. 1
