One popular feature at TDMRC is the Multi-Gauge-Running-Track (MGRT).

There are five circuits and by clever construction we have managed to fit in 14 different gauges onto those five circuits. The 14 gauges include OO/HO, TT, EM, N, Z, O (2 rail and 3 rail), G......... and even S !

At the recent Open Day it was very popular, as you can see....

In this photo Leslie Bevis-Smith is running one of his 'S' gauge locos - and that's Leslie pointing to it!

How many clubs have 'S' gauge running facilities???

We had a request from an RMweb member in the USA to make a video of our Open Day for those who couldn't get down to the club.

At short notice we roped in a couple of members who had never made a video before and with no preparation, no experience and no budget we made this ....

We are so pleased with the results that in the autumn we plan to spend a few nights filming each layout in depth and produce something even better.

If this inspires you to come down to see us, please be aware that our clubrooms are closed for refurbishment until Sept 4th.

Is there anyone reading this who is thinking of joining Twickenham MRC?  Or anyone reading this who attended our recent Open Day?

If so please send us a PM and we will send you our latest newsletter that shows all our recent activity and shows what a positive go-ahead bunch of modellers we are.

One great thing about being a member of TDMRC is the use of the Multi-Gauge-Running-Track ........ up regularly on the first Friday of the month ... you just never know what's going to turn up!

Last Friday we had a first! A R/C coarse scale O gauge GWR Castle as seen in this snapshot  ............ literally ANYTHING runs on the MGRT from Z to G ...... includes HD 3 rail and S!

Merry Xmas to all TDMRC members .... and from TDMRC to all RMwebbers who read this ....

TDMRC is closed today (XMAS DAY) and on Friday Jan 1st but members are looking forward to 2016 with great anticipation ........... the club has various projects at various stages of development across all popular scales and 2016 will see these all progress ...

O Gauge .....

Our thoroughly researched and ground-breaking 7mm project, ADDISON ROAD, will attend its first public exhibition in 2016 - the 'READING SHOW' in May 2016 .... you can read about this layout's journey to completion here on RMweb  http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/91730-twickenham-mrcs-addison-road-kensington-olympia-in-7mm/

OO/HO Gauge .....

The club's new OO/HO 'common fiddle yard' is nearly ready to launch as a completed project, with all track laid and point motors in place it only needs some final wiring to 'GO LIVE' in early 2016 ..... once completed this large complex fiddle yard will be able to 'host' various OO/HO scenic fronts.

OO Gauge .....

2016 will also see our iconic 'TWICKENHAM JUNCTION' project running for the first time .... this iconic layout will set new standards of historical authenticity for a club 4mm layout and will be the first project to make use of the club's OO/HO 'common fiddle yard'. You can read all about 'TWICKENHAM JUNCTION' here ... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/91808-twickenham-mrc-builds-large-oo-gauge-sr-3rd-rail-layout/page-2&do=findComment&comment=2134208

2016 will also see big changes for our club's existing 'OO' flagship layout 'NORTHWICK'. Following its very successful showing at WARLEY 2015, the new year will see major upgrades to further enhance the operation of this popular layout in order to extend its working life. You can see more about 'NORTHWICK' here ...  http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/98680-twickenham-district-mrcs-oo-gauge-layout-northwick/page-2&do=findComment&comment=2128580

NEW OO PROJECT ? ... some newer members are already thing about the future and another scenic front for the common fiddle yard project .. it hasn't surfaced yet, but it's bubbling away under the surface ... it might even be a D&E project! The club is very positive about attracting D&E modellers (that's Modern Image to old stagers like me!) and you can see some of the efforts we're making in that regard here ..... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/100052-twickenham-mrc-seeks-de-members-to-build-new-de-layout/&do=findComment&comment=2129867

N Gauge .....

2015 saw our new N gauge layout 'MILTON' make it's first public appearance at an exhibition ..... this broke new ground for the club as it is privately owned layout built in the clubroom by the team who exhibition the club's well known 'BATTY MOOR' layout.

'MILTON' is a modular layout with individual members building different sections and it's unusual in that it is double sided scenically with no conventional fiddle yard. Here's a look at 'MILTON' from early in 2015 during an early trial running  ... first side # 1...

post-4476-0-67021800-1451047882_thumb.jpg

And now side # 2 .....

post-4476-0-03702300-1451048392_thumb.jpg

'MILTON' was a 'skills transfer' project to pass on experience and skills from the 'old hands' to some newer members of the team. With 'MILTON' now finished the team enter 2016 with a new club N gauge layout firmly on the agenda - watch this space!

G Gauge .......

The club's existing large G gauge layout is to be dismantled in 2016 to allow the construction of a new small easily portable G gauge layout that will be lightweight and easily taken to shows and conventions in the average car. Plans are very tentative at this stage and the group welcomes other like minded G scalers who would like to get in on the ground floor of this new project.

So, right across the modelling spectrum TDMRC is looking forward to 2016 - why not come and see us sometime in 2016 and see for yourself how TDMRC could be the club for you?

Twickenham & District MRC will once again be supporting the Kempton Great Engines Museum's 'Model Railway Weekend' on April 16/17.

Kempton Great Engines (KGET) houses the world's largest working triple-expansion steam engine and it will be in steam all weekend. On one weekend a year the museum welcomes the model railway community to come along and share the fun.... TDMRC are proud to be the museum's major supporter.

Later this weekend we will post photos/details of what we're taking along this year, but for the moment take a look at the RMweb exhibition calendar for full details of venue/directions etc.

BIG NEWS!

Twickenham MRC's committee have now agreed in principle that they pro-actively want us to have a Diesel & Electric era layout.

The committee have allocated storage space to store the layout

The committee have allocated floor space in the clubroom to set it up

The committee have now allocated funds to build it

All we need now is a few more D&E modellers to join us to allow us to make a start to actually build it!

We have attracted a small (but very keen) bunch of D&E modellers already but to make the project we need to attract at least a couple more - that could be YOU!

The layout will be continuous run and use the club's new 'common fiddle yard' - this means that the elaborate fiddle yard is already built and all we need to build is the scenic section to drop in.

The scenic section will initially be 15ft long - extendable as/when the size of the group justifies a bigger layout. The common fiddle yard can accommodate scenic sections up to 25ft so there's all to play for!

The theme of this project has not yet been decided so YOU could still have a say in its design and period.

Come down any Friday and meet the embryonic D&E group - visit our website www.tdmrc.org.uk

or visit our Open Day in July where are D&E modellers will have a small static display

TDMRC Open Day - July 23rd

10am - 4.30pm

Free entry - donations welcome
