edward66
Are the dates posted yet for 2015? I really must see the LLR this year! Edward
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 6, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 6, 2015 Not so far, but as two of the openings are usually for the Yellow Book (NGS), that would be a useful starting point
quavey
Sadly chaps we are not doing any public openings this year with the NGS or any other organisation at the moment. If any plans change I will update this thread but for the moment there is no public open days of the garden or the railway.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted March 3, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 3, 2015 Shame, how about a RM web open day?
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted March 4, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks for the update - shame as I always enjoy my visit to the gardens as much as I do the railway. Regards Stewart
quavey
I will speak with the management and see what can be done but I think they are wanting a "year of". I think we have opened every year for the last 12 so I think they were wanting a break. Thanks for the kind words and requests!
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted March 8, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2015 Can't say I blame them, as it takes a lot of organising to have so many people driving up to the house, getting parked, and then traipsing all over the garden,
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted January 12, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2016 Bump, wondering if there will be any open days at the Littledale Railway this year?
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 12, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2016 Don't know yet, but if I see the owner, I'll ask him and post the answer here.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted May 24, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 24, 2016 Met the owner at Green Ayre Rises, and he advised me that there are no plans to open the gardens or the railway to the public this year. Sorry about that, but it does take a lot of organisation with car parking on a very quiet country road, and is a major operation when it happens. RMweb Premium 45156 Posted July 22, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2018 (edited) Managed to get a trip in this afternoon, and there were FOUR locos in steam - three visiting locos, so they were operatine two services, both double headed, and the punters were flocking to have a trip. The new station canopy, built by Mike over the last winter is very, very impressive. So here goes, with apologies for the quality, as I was using my old camera. First off was in the car park Then just a few images to give you more idea of what was running Edited July 22, 2018 by 45156
Ohmisterporter
The railway has come on in leaps and bounds over the years. Well worth a visit for anyone in the area, or further afield if they fancy a day out.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted July 22, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2018 I was there too today, really enjoyed it. Many thanks to the owners and helpers for putting the event on.

Well worth a visit for anyone in the area, or further afield if they fancy a day out. Yes - it's a shame that it is not open more often, but Mike can't organise open days quite as often as he used to, and the logistics don't really lend themselves to opening more frequently - there were a lot of helpers there, and also when we left at about 15.00, the car park had about 100 cars in it, with two marshalls making sure that the cars were parked neatly. There were also a lot of ladies organising the teas, and also the raffle, tombola, sales stand etc - probably between 20 and 30 individuals there helping to make sure that it went well. The visitors were very varied, with quite a few garden enthusiasts as well as quite a few railway enthusiasts making the most of this rare occasion.
quavey
Thank you to everyone who made it to the open day. The RNLI managed to raise a reasonable amount of money and the railway was very busy with 4 engines in steam and a traction engine. Further info and updates about the railway can be found on the facebook group which is here, https://www.facebook.com/groups/LittledaleLightRailway/

quavey
It's that time of year again: So far just one date of the 7th July 2019 this one is for the RNLI and will probably be open from 1:00 - 5:00 but I will confirm when I have the details. 1
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted April 22, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2019 Thanks Chris, we'll be there - I've noted it in my calendar - I'll await the details here or on Facebook
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted June 26, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 26, 2019 Bump - 7th July is on, according to local publicity and the Facebook pages. Admission to the garden is £5 this year with a cream tea, and a train ride is a further £1. There will also be a string quartet playing in the garden. Much to see there, as the garden is now very mature. The railway also now has a signal box to add to the interest there.
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted June 26, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 26, 2019 Thanks for the reminder, spotted the posters near where I live. I’ve asked for the day off work, not sure if I’ll get it as it is our peak season.
