Geoff Endacott
Don't forget the detail differences between D800-12 and the Bachmann model which depicts D813 onwards. The fuel filler point is covered on the first batch but open on later locomotives. The grilles are in two sections on early machines and three on the later ones. RMweb Gold Downendian Posted June 11, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2011 D802 when in MSYP was unusual in that it had a flat topped small yellow panel rather than the more normal peaked version. It also had no headboard clips which always gave warships a more cleaner look. Excellent pic in MSYP in Heyday of the Warships by Hugh Dady p27. D605Eagle
It would be nice if Bachmann updated its warship model and included D800-13 batch with discs and also the NBL built ones. They seem to have covered all bases with the peaks, so why not the warships? Jim
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted August 26, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 26, 2011 It would be nice if Bachmann updated its warship model and included D800-13 batch with discs and also the NBL built ones. They seem to have covered all bases with the peaks, so why not the warships? Jim Indeed it would, but I can't see it happening unless or until Bachmann retool the whole locomotive body. The Warship tooling dates from Mainline days so does not have all the different inserts that you get nowadays to cover the plethora of detail variations, as you do with the Peaks.
