Glad this has been revised, I had done the fywp on my heavily reworked blue model of 6129 incorrectly, this is now being rectified!

Good roof shots of converted 29s seem rarer than rocking horse doodoo, anyone know of any good ones?

As an aside, were snow plough brackets removed during the conversion from 21 to 29? There is a photo of D6150 at Aberdeen so fitted on p33 of "Diesels on Scottish Region" (Bradford Barton), but I don't recall seeing any photos of 29s so fitted?

Mike.

Very interesting photograph. It looks like it was taken on the Cowlairs Triangle opposite Eastfield depot. Do you, by any chance, have the exact date for this photo, please? And, better still, do you have any more photos taken at this location and date you can share with us, please?

Many thanks, Tony.

Other pictures are available.

Datewise, my books are in transit, that bit may take a while, although easter 1971 rings a bell OTTOMH.

Brilliant, Mike. Many thanks. The pictures show that the locos were indeed in the Cowlairs Triangle.

Were you part of the many coaches of Dalescroft Railfans that toured Scotland that Easter, it was getting pretty dark by the time the London coach arrived at Eastfield as I recall.

Those were the days!

We did something similar in 1970 with the Worcester Locomotive Society

Left Worcester Sat 4 PM - every depot North of Carlisle except Ayr and Inverness

Back 2am Monday morning

373 locos sighted - all but one of the 29s

Regarding D6107, when ex-works in 1967 the FYWP extended right up to the roof line as per this RCTS image: http://rcts.info/photographs/archive/380/RE/RE02151C.jpg

Yet by 1971 it appeared confined to below the windscreen as per Brush Veterans photo shown earlier: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_02_2015/post-4697-0-90935500-1424824468.jpg

I realise the area above the windscreen got very dirty and its often hard to tell the colour, but in the latter photo it actually looks to be painted black?

Edit to add: Also the Cab door windows have bars over them, were any other 29s so fitted?

Can anyone throw any light on this?

TIA.

Martyn.

Nice shot on Diesel Image Gallery of Ex Works Blue FYWP D6107-having failed-at Larbert and being assisted by a class 20 on an Aberdeen-Glasgow train. Lots of good photos from the period on this site.

Is that the power unit which is supposed to be going in that 27 that is allegedly going to be made into a NBL replica?

Not sure what the plans are for this, I believe the set was donated by Alexandra Workware, I became aware of this when I was working at Aggreko and it had been Aggreko who had bought this power unit (among others perhaps) to use in static generators, the SRPS contacted us to try and get some history on the unit.  I don't know if there were any conditions around the donation.

The yellow peak is still visible up to at least September 1969 in a photo I have, and I think probably remained under all the muck to the end. You can see how the yellow fades into dirt in this shot.
