Exactly where is this huge pile of lost 12t van roofs as I’d love to find it……

I was going to reply with: "I don't know, but I've got a huge pile of bodies..."

But when I read it back, it just seemed wrong somehow?

For some reason, I ended up with eight old Tri-ang Insulfish van bodies in various liveries and one roof. I can't for the life of me remember where they came from.

No need for power “Set Includes: Electric”

The more you know? “Era 9 - Post privatisation (1995 onwards)”

Never mind that, look at this for a "bargain":

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353581115004?

As my kids might say when I'm not around, WTF?

It lies far, far away, - at the end of the rainbow! All you need is a leprechaun with a shovel!

If only I could find the glory hole where these Triang and Hornby roofs (rooves?)  are hidden.  I have long ago lost count of the number of topless Triang and Hornby vans which have arrived here roofless in eBay job lots and to which I fitted roofs (rooves?) made from perspex and secured with superglue.  There must be a good market for 3d printed roofs (rooves?)

"Money can't buy happiness, But you can buy model trains" says the seller.

Try typing 'topless glory hole' in Google, you may be enlightened.....

Cheers,

If you are American, then yes.

If you're English, the plural is rooves.

Sorry but that’s not correct. Rooves is the irregular plural even in British English.

That's an eclectic mix of traditional English, American English and corporate speak:D

I think we should produce a series of those pretentious corporate motivational posters but written like this.

Not according to the OED.

Roofs has become the common plural.

But that's doubtless the dumbing down of our language and a lazy education system.

Either is acceptable.

That’s not what you said though.

But I do share your despair at the dumbing down of our language, which seems to be gathering pace in the digital age.

Either is acceptable, because we now include American English.

I despaired of our education system 20 years ago when a junior school teacher sniffily informed me that they were no longer concerned about strictly applying spelling and grammar as long as the person was getting their message across.

Which is why I have encountered so many young adults who can't spell "shoelaces", let alone tie them.

That's despite having worn designer brand trainers since before they could walk.
