That's a typical Bachmann Shay lunching it's own undergubbins after a few hours of running.

Looks more like it took a dive off the layout after pesky bandits set fire to a trestle bridge.

But I take it that the model is, er......

Somewhat flawed?

Fragile is a better description.

Motorised, one could have some fun with this loco on the exhibition circuit! I can imagine the gasps of horror! Photoshop may produce some convincing, supporting, photographic 'evidence'!? 😉

Too much information, perhaps?

It would have been interesting on curves!

Or how about going 009 and fitting a modified 4-6-6-4 artic chassis under it? 😉

If it were set up properly as a Fairlie, the 'power bogies' will accommodate pretty tight curvature, one of the reasons for the design in the first place!

Possibly the reason it was never finished.

I know a layout with a couple of 7mm scale freelance Garratts on OO track built from two Triang princesses back to back and a Mallett on a chassis of similar ancestry.

A practical question: where might the coal bunker/s have been located? Inside one or more of the side 'tanks'?

I’d have built it with a bigger cab, two J72 cabs back to back, with coal bunkers inside on the fireman’s side and possibly occupying some of the water tank space, with a loading hatch on top.  Fairlie cabs are quite large in general proportion to the loco as a whole.

There's a character limit to eBay titles, so I suppose they couldn't fit in "fitted with wheels that aren't quite as bloody awful as the original plastic ones"
