Steve Smith
This was my interpretation of the interior of this shed for a friend. In this case laser etched in MDF and card in 7mm scale, and only room for seven bays. The framing of the shed varied along its length because it was built in stages and had been subject to ad-hoc repairs. Truly a cathedral of steam!
RMweb Gold queensquare Posted August 15, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 15, 2022 Back from a sweltering but very enjoyable weekend at Wells, was great to be back after three years. Lots of wonderful things to see including much of interest for the 2mm modeller. The attached video gives a good overview, Bath shed is at 17.08, Modbury at 18.42 and Pit Hill at 20.35. Enjoy. RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted August 15, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 15, 2022 Morning Jerry. Modbury and Arun Quay were my two favourites. Both were simply stunning not only in their presentation and operation but the layouts themselves simply looked 'right'. Rob. 2 3

The lovely Modbury. Thanks John, was good to see you. I was opposite Modbury and on the rare occasions there was nobody in the way had the perfect view of trains rolling across the scene. Beautiful stock, the steam railmotor in particular is a joy to behold. 1 hour ago, t-b-g said: That looks lovely. Steve has very kindly sent me the drawings he used which I will be passing on to a friend who has kindly volunteered to laser cut some of the components for me. I shan't be going to the same level of detail Steve has in 7mm but I would like to put some simplified framing in where it's visible Jerry

RMweb Gold Popular Post queensquare Posted September 3, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 3, 2022 Well autumn is officially here so thought it was about time the magnificent curtains I acquired from the charity shop went up. They were initially about a foot short but fortunately I had bought two (£2 each!) so my wonderful seamstress neighbour adjusted the length so that they just rest on the floor to keep any draft out. The remaining material is going to be turned into a new bed for the dogs to match the curtains - there’s posh! Theres no shot with the curtains open at the moment as I’m in the throes of moving my bench to its new home under the window. The plan is to only move the tools I need on a regular basis and make the whole thing as ergonomic as possible so I can keep it tidy. It’s not something that comes naturally…… Jerry 24
RMweb Gold Popular Post queensquare Posted September 6, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted September 6, 2022 The new bench is now ready for action following a pleasant evening in the workshop listening to Real Madrid take Celtic apart and moving stuff around whilst the rain steadily fell outside - the garden is desperate for it! The old bench looks vast now it’s been cleared. The idea is that I can put individual Bath boards on there to work on - it will just take the largest boards - the shed area is lost on there. The trick of course is keeping such a large, horizontal surface free of clutter! Jerry

RMweb Gold Donw Posted September 7, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 7, 2022 I think it is nothing to do with the size of the bench or how small the models. It is really down to the nature of the user some people seem to be able to keep a workbench tidy. I am not one of those. Don 1
