Cunningham Loco & Machine Works
Rather a nice example of what one can do with an outdoor photo diorama. It's a pity the weathering on the pannier's been fouled up, and that the smoke effect's rather unconvincing. I'll pass our artist on that obvious HO scale American freight car, for that's good weathering, and he obviously starting out with what models he could find cheap. Probably just got into railway modeling from Warhammer, and I can't fault him for that. (Courtesy Wikimedia Commons) 13
6990WitherslackHall
Keeping in the weathering theme, diesel locomotives weren't clean for very long (neither were steam). To back that up, here is a slightly dirty 'Shed' seen at York on 22/01/22.

RMweb Premium keefer Posted January 27, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 27, 2022 Excellent track and weathering with a nice & sunny but slightly cheesy nicked-from-a-BOC brochure backscene. Let down by the clunky over-detailed bogies and unrealistic overhang at each end where the tension-locks have been cut off. http://www.eastbank.org.uk/images/Glasgow/UK0340.jpg ("Looking northbound from the road bridge on Polmadie Road, an almost brand new Class 50 D410 heads for Polmadie engine shed. Wickham Green too
I think only the works is from the BOC brochure and the more muted city background from elsewhere ........... what those four piles of packing cases are doing in between is anybody's guess !

Typical lack of forward planning by the layout builder though, when he add the fourth, right-hand side track later, and realised he had only built his bridge wide enough for three.... Talking of bridges - why isn't there a bus on it?? 3

Mind you, they’re doing 50149 in Railfreight triple grey and there was obviously only one of them.

Popular Post Michael Crofts
I know space is always a limiting factor but excessively sharp curves always look wrong to me, even on narrow gauge layouts. And photographic backscenes always look like, well, photographs. Never mind, at least the driver isn't staring forwards and the static grass hasn't been overdone. Overall a good attempt at creating an impression of big scenery in a small area. The Vac in the photo is actually '007 in it's green phase, notice the white handrails on the front of the cab, I think the photo dates from 1984 / 85, it's probably on one of the vac braked Oxford or Newbury commuter jobs . (The six blue refurbished ones were 001, 006, 013, 017, 019 and 047) Edited February 9, 2022 by Rugd1022 1 2
