D1030western musketeer
Can anyone shed a light if hymek D7093 carried full yellow ends while in green livery as i am sure i have seen it mentioned somewhere but can seem to find the info now. A photo would be great but i know are rare in this livery. regards. richard.
SRman
I think (from memory) that Heljan released D7093 in green with full yellow ends. A friend has one (which I cannot see at the moment) but I am sure it was an anagram of my own Heljan Hymek, D7039.
Karhedron
I don't know for certain but I don't think it did. There is a picture of it at Canton in 1969 still in green with small yellow panels. I would imagine that any repaints after that date would have been into blue with full yellow ends which is how it ended its days. Of course it only takes one photo to prove differently. http://www.rail-online.co.uk/ImageView.aspx?id=646d4535-00bd-4855-845b-c68b00ea6caa
Fat Controller
Couldn't find any record of this in 'A Tribute to The Hymecs'; locos shown as been scrapped in this livery were; 7013, 7014,7020. More locos were actually scrapped when in green/yellow panel livery.
D1030western musketeer
Thks guys, i believe the Heljan hymeks released in this livery are D7000 and D7097 as i know only a handfull carried this livery. If a shot of D7093 in 69 with small yellow panel has been seen then i can only presume she went into blue until withdrawel nov 74. richard. Trevor H
Early 1970 D7093 received full yellow ends whilst in green livery, at time it carried data panels, no red route circle second man cab sides, 86A shed stickers behind cab door and a rather worn BR lion and crest emblem. D1030western musketeer
Thks Thats good to hear as have modelled D7093 as in this livery although probaly only carried for a short spell. I know of most none headboard clip hymeks to carry this livery, but ones with headboards are rare and believe only 3 carried it and hoping D7093 was one of them.Photos of hymeks as said are even rarer in this livery only myself ever seeing D7009 and 16 in it. Maybe someone has some more. richard.
Trevor H
D7000, D7009, D7013, D7014, D7018, D7020, D7023, D7031, D7092, D7093 & D7097 all carried GFY livery. That's off the top of my head right now, but i don't think I missed any, will check later.
Trevor H
Just to add D7000, D7009, D7018, D7023, D7031, D7092 & D7093 didn't have the lower cab door handles fitted whilst in this livery, much like the Heljan loco. but D7013, D7014, D7020 & D7097 did have them fitted. So D7092 & D7093 are the most suitable for the Heljan model without doing some extra work.
mark alden
D7093 received its all over yellow end in green livery on release from Swindon on 22/08/68.... the date on the Rail-on-Line picture is incorrect. It went blue from 11/05/70.
mark alden
Behind is 7063, blue from 05/67 and 7083, blue from 04/68 so the picture must be dated between 04/68 and 08/68. 7093 was stopped at Canton from 31/07/68 until 15/08/68 with a B bogie inner final drive defect. A bogie change was required and it was ordered to go to Swindon but had to wait until 7074 was released from Swindon, hence the waiting around at Cardiff so I reckon the picture should be dated between 31/07 and 15/08/68....
