Railway Practical Jokes

Recommended Posts

One more for yous, it's not railway sorry to say.

When working on the hulls of the ships / boats some people would wear hobnailed boots. Now these made a lot of noise in a hull so some of the 'lads' would get one of there mates to start talking to 'Jo' where there was a couple of holes in the deck plating. The lad? below would then tack weld one or two of the hobs to the deck plate.

Well you can imaging the fun that could happen.

One that I have done from time to time. As a guard when the loco goes to run round the train in the van you lift the vacuum brake handle and insert a wedge. After the train has been piped up you indicate to the loco crew to make vac. You can hear the vac escaping by the handle and have fun watching the loco crew checking that they have put the bag on the back and there are no leaks from the bags between the loco and other items of stock.

100% safe as the guard you'll have the hand brake on at the time. Just fun to watch loco crew try to find the leak.
