RMweb Gold Popular Post Re6/6 Posted May 13, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 13, 2022 This is not my work but that of the late John Watson. It's one of the boards of his P4 Laxfield layout (GER) which is in the care of 10800. It will be revitalized in due course. It featured in the first MRJ issue 0. The scenics are of note considering their age and the methods that John used. They show a very light touch which has stood the test of time. His trees are of particular note with their delicate construction The grass (surgical lint) is faded and showing its age (getting mothy!) but a refresh with modern grasses should bring it all back to life once again. A more correct engine would be this J15. This unconverted and unweathered one is just plonked! 25 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post Captain Kernow Posted July 9, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 9, 2022 (edited) This little Pug, 51204, the only example modified with a lower cab roof, used to work in the Manchester area until 1962, when some reports say it was scrapped. The reality was, though, that BR leased it to the NCB, who used it at Frog Lane colliery, near Coalpit Heath, for a couple of years: Edited July 9, 2022 by Captain Kernow
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted July 9, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 9, 2022 That’s nothing, mon capitan, mine is converted to a fictitious royal blue livery and still carries the LMS smokebox number I claim it was sold out of service with before the war, ending up with the NCB after several owners and being handled by several dealers. But in reality it was withdrawn from BR service and scrapped in 1963 as 51217… 3 1

RMweb Gold deepfat Posted July 14, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2022 @Aymod This topic should be front and centre on RMWeb to showcase members' amazing work. It's also a shame so many images have been lost. If I was running RMWeb I'd make this a monthly competition based on likes from us and give small award or badge for the best 4 1
