Is there any other way of identifying what PO wagons would be used on a specific service or route other than studying photos?

Depends on the period, World War Two onwards they were pooled so quite literally  any could turn up.   Pre war I think you would be limited to looking at photos

My thoughts were to be a random selection picked from collieries in South Wales/Midlands with others added that I either liked the livery or had a west country based connection. Powsides do an amazing range of different liveries but the kits are now 15 sheets each. What we have done on several wagons is a cheat and to respray the Bachmann 7 plank black and use their transfers instead. Here's an example on the Ocean wagon.

Well, it won't be allowed in the lounge, but a couple of 'em may be employed as bouncers on the door.

According to a story I heard the group that brought 1501 had the option on the other two 15xx as well but turned it down ...

I understand that to be correct but I also thought that at least one of the others was bought as a source of spares for the good one?

An extended video of the Rapido 15xx to enjoy and it has the potential to get into the Captain's First Class Pannier Lounge.

The name Hawksworth bringeth forth sweetness in his final sentence……County. A blatant hint …..or a false alarm ?  Surely they wouldn’t do that across us  ?

Interesting... So where did the rest of the other 15xx end up or was it cut up on site for spares otherwise there had to be a spare set of frames knocking around

Wikipedia says, 'Locomotives 1502 and 1509 were used as sources of spares for the restoration of 1501. The remains of 1502 and 1509 were cut up and scrapped at Cashmore's, Great Bridge in October 1970'.

A different way of hitch hiking. (for those who remember what hitch hiking was!)

My apologies, Lloyd. I totally mis-read your user name and apologise unreservedly for the initial and juvenile snort/ titter that ensued.

Rob. 😳

If you thought that the second 'R' was a 'T', then you were were probably quite accurate! However, Farr is where I live. I have never heard it called Far(t), though if you did, you might miss it!

A little local diversion - CTMK and I were walking around the village a little while ago and found ourselves walking up a residential road called Heather Park.

When I saw the remains of this GWR pedestrian gate, I realised that the road was partly built on the formation of the Kingsbridge branch, between the main road (B3372) and the main line junction:

This was presumably the location of a footpath crossing over the branch.

Great find CK, love relics like this.

I can't not have the NCB version as the real thing worked a mile from the home of ANTB and in my lifetime too.😎

That livery makes me wonder, what if London Transport had bought 15XX instead of 57XX (I expect in real life there are probably problems with clearances on the outside cylinders, but they would have looked smart, yes?)
