Gruffalo
5521 at the DFR post-Xmas gala a couple of years back A nice setting - the snow and dull sky only highlights the well cared-for prairie centre stage.
Judge Dread
Another half dozen photos all taken at the Eastleigh 100 in 2010. First, the "Three Amigos". Then, "Brute Power". Thirdly, just so this is not all the same. For something definitely not the same. It occurred to me the number of modellers who sprinkle their depot scene with loco wheels(usually just the one?) Not driving wheels but wheels all the same! Now back to diesels and electrics with this duo. Finally, or is it?

69843
I'll chip in the first round of many to come: 110 year old Beyer Peacock 3016T at Central Station The first locomotive across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, 1905, sits in the NSWRTM NR18 in new Indian Pacific livery at Central on January 2nd 100 year old Hunslet 2705 at Thirlmere 4306, the only diesel of her design left in the world at Central 4918 on the AK track recording cars at Central 4473, unique in being the only 44 out of one hundred to have a horizontal rear headlight A study of DL liveries. DL44 is one of only two left in this colour scheme, whereas DL40 is in standard Pacific National Blue and Yellow And, whilst not technically a locomotive, I just can't resist this one of Paybus FP1 down at Thirlmere in the RTM

Judge Dread
Judge Dread & I were obviously both at Eastleigh 100 .... probably getting in each others' way It was a very pleasant day out was it not? As to "getting in anyone's way", I have a wife of 48 years standing (tomorrow as a matter of fact), to do that. On the theme of obstructions etc, did you see this derailment on the Saturday afternoon to the north of Eastleigh. I took the picture on max telephoto, steadying the camera against the wall of the supermarket just under the road over bridge. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted July 16, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2013 As a youngster I was fascinated by pictures of foreign locos and how different most of them looked from our own but one engine which seemed far less alien to me was the Australia NSWGR C38 in its streamlined form. Already being ousted by dieselisation it was obvious to me that I was was never going to see one as I was hardly likely to make my way to the other side of the world and it certainly wouldn't be before steam finished in Australia. But life takes some strange turns and so it was that in September 2004 - after the end of my 'big railway' career - I found myself working on a short term consultancy job for City Rail in Sydney. I knew a bit about preserved railways in Aus but almost nothing about mainline steam in NSW so it was a huge, and very enjoyable, surprise to come across this train in Central one Saturday morning as I was on my way to the ZigZag Railway. And not just any steam special but one with a streamlined C38 at the head of it - only goes to show that some childhood dreams really can come true.
