Class 47 photos

Great pics there SGJ and also give an answer in your own Armley layout thread.

They do,

Leeds station is a very mixed station, concrete, tarmac, cement, and even tile in the old bit when it was a car park for Intercity  customers or was it passengers in them days!

Another thing that I have noted is the size of the white line on the end of the platforms, It seams to be about a two inches at the most, On the layout I have done them to about 15 inches so I had better correct the mistake

Is that last one Grosmont?

If so, what was the occasion?

Cheers.

Now I know it's a 47 thread, but I for one don't mind the odd Peak sneaking in..... ;o)

Cheers.

Sean.

I agree with that, but bear in mind that the engine is down rated version of the 47 unit.

Terry.

Afternoon all, never thought I'd get nostalgic about the 'Brush 4's AKA Class 47! Would be great to get regular haulage behind them now! Attached are a few snaps from the 1970's and 80's showing that they really were 'Maids of all Work!. Used to see a 47 from the window at work at Southampton Eastern Docks on a daily car train of Jags and Land Rovers for export. These were replaced by GM products in about 2000/2001. Old story; wish I'd taken more pictures!

...and Great Western to complete (?) the set of green ones with cast numberplates.

Possibly a Reading open day?

attachicon.gif1986-7-1_0016.jpg

and staying Western, is this one 47901, annoying the residents of Newbury with their washing out in 1986?

Appears to be air-brake only, and bit late on for general 47 use on Yeoman trains.

Hi, it would appear to be 901 as it was the only one fitted with the number card holders in the secondmans cab window. have a picture of 628 in the lime green original GWR colour on test in Shrewsbury, will post it when I find it.
