drgj
Here is a Bogie B I made. It was a lot more fiddly to make than I thought it would be. I finished it in Crimson with a light weathering to the underframe. It's a good kit that makes up into a nice model.
Ravenser
A kit with an awful lot of unnecessary complication, though the results are excellent
Horsetan
It needs a fair bit of weight. I found that out when I completed most of its structure. Does anyone produce sprung buffers for it?
bubbles2
Does anyone produce sprung buffers for it? I used the white metal ones supplied drilled out for MJT buffer round heads with the Ratio heads soldered or glue (can't remember which now) to the MJT heads. SRman
I built mine many years ago and, as Ravenser said earlier, it is a good kit but unnecessarily complicated. The separate brass door hinges, for example were unnecessary when a plastic moulding on the doors would have been indistinguishable once painted. And, after all the unnecessary bits, they didn't provide any grilles for the door windows! I used Blacksmith ones on mine but Roxey also offer suitable etches. With a little care, though, they do build into a very fine model, as drgj's photo in the first post shows. Very nice! RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted November 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 8, 2013 It needs a fair bit of weight. I found that out when I completed most of its structure. Does anyone produce sprung buffers for it? I totally agree about the need for additional weight, I am not aware of any suitable sprung buffers being available other than by the method suggested by Bubbles2 above. drgj
I agree that the brass door strapping was a terrible pain. Dave
Ravenser
I agree that the brass door strapping was a terrible pain. Dave Why they couldn't have done the whole side as a single moulding (including the hinges) and simply left the chalkboards and handrails/door handles as etchings I don't know.... The Bigbee Line
I have just got one to build up. The brass bits are very small and I can hardly see them. Will it notice if I don't fit them? A pair of Hornby bogies are lined up to go under the van

drgj
Will it notice if I don't fit them? There are no rules. You just do as much or as little so as to make the model that pleases you.

A pair of Hornby bogies are lined up to go under the van For what it's worth, I didn't fit the very smallest brass bits but did fit the grab irons , door handles etc. I didn't have any great problems with the bogies supplied in the kit (apart from losing 2 brake blocks during the protracted build and needing to tighten up one of the mounting screws) and I managed to fit Kadees, though if you have some Hornby Maunsell bogies to hand they should do the job for you

What Kadee couplers did you use? Do you use Kadee standard height?
drgj
I fitted the brass door strapping and destination boards with varnish so as to give a bit of a chance to move them into place. dave
