Fifth from left says "first class" - it is ex-Arriva Trains Wales - as are the other Mk3s

This is it before the Arriva branding was removed:

10249

Thanks for the correction.

My misreading a blown up logo

Had another look and it's plain to see, as well as the still extant Welsh branding.

Glasgow Central 1989 by Paul Haywood

Glasgow Central

https://www.railcar.co.uk/data/vehicle/53598 suggests an earlier date, reporting the leading car M53598 as being withdrawn in December 1986. 1989 does seem remarkably late for what looks like a recent repaint into plain blue.

There is another photo of the same unit (in 1986) here: https://www.railcar.co.uk/images/9843

Another one of those "anything goes" formations.

Love the multicoloured window frames on the Mk2.

Just realised the multicolour window frames are as a result of the short lived Loram livery. flickr pic from one of the DL team.

What's that vehicle in departmental yellow it's coupled up to?

That's the Tender for a snow plough, because of all the Brandy required in the cold conditions.

The Deltics that worked trains in Cornwall were always well-decorated with local fauna and flora (a Cornish Pixie and some fir tree twigs)

..... or should that be Piskie ?

You are completely correct. My only excuse is 90%+ of RMWeb inmates are somewhere across the border into England, on the other side of the Tamar Bridge, and only know it by the Anglicised version.

Ah one of me favourites. Proper job, me 'ansome. Mind you, in my yoof, I did enjoy getting piskied on Newquay Steam Cider. Not to be confused with the more famous Newquay Steam Beer. IIRC the cider was about 10% proof, I might be wrong about that, but after three pints we were well piskied.

Also a rather good beer
