DWS
Hi I am attempting to scratch build a signal box using Wills SSMP212 Brick-Plain Bond Sheets and have read that the best way to join the corners, to retain the brick pattern around the corners, is to Miter the edges. Can anyone suggest the best way to miter the edges of the sheets to get a good corner joint please?
Londontram
I think I saw once some one make up a jig using two blocks of wood with a 45% slope on them in which they would "sandwich" with clamps the job to be mitered in and file/cut or sand off the required amount to get the right angle on it. I can't recall where this was but it was a very simple tool but I recall the chap saying it only had a limited life and was prone to wear but it might give you some idea of a way to do it
RMweb Premium TheQ Posted November 28, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2013 If the wife wasn't looking I'd use her mount board cutter, it's a bit like this http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/logan-2000-hand-held-mount-cutter/509701-1000, but i'd shop around, this is just a quick link to one and seems very expensive The Q
JeffP
I was going to suggest a mount-board cutter, or careful sanding. There are also mini-table saws out there that will cut styrene etc on a mitre.
