I am interested in modelling narrow gauge industrial railways and tramways and thus looking for the methods and equipment used to transfer loads of stone etc from the narrow gauge wagons to both Standard gauge wagons and canal vessels. I have a particular interest in the Glyn Valley Tramway near Chirk and its interface with the GWR and the Shropshire canal at Chirk. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you Giles,

Excellent, just what I was after. Any more out there including wagon rotation systems?

Being new to this site and blogging in general, I am finding it difficult to get round the site - found this reply by chance, any tips??

If you look for photos of the Scaldwell & Finedon 3Ft & Metre gauge, respectively, systems, you will find two more discharge systems. The small sand, clay & peat systems usually used tippler wagons. I am absolutely sure somebody will come up with a wagon tippler system after reading this.
