oldknotty
I have a model of each of the LMS twins one from Bachmann and one from Dapol the Hattons one . They both hesitate and stop at spots on the track with aggravating regularity . Yet , when i run ANY OTHER diesel or steam locos i do not have this problem at all ?? Is there something inherently amiss with these locos or was I lucky enough to get two duff models .The track is showing good power , it is clean as are the wheels on the two diesels . What is the problem here any ideas guys ?? I am about to sell them off as they are frustrating me to no end right now !! martin BTW both locos have Lokpilot basic decoders in them
oldknotty
Would installing a capacitor help ???
amdaley
Perhaps its the Lokpilot decoders which are at fault ? Try a reset on both decoders & see if that helps. If that makes no difference try a different makers decoder in the loco's. If after that you still have problems can you try both loco's on Dc ? Remove the decoders, replace the blanking plates & see if you still have problems on DC. Its a bit odd that both loco's are giving trouble. The only common denominator between the two are the Lokpilot decoders ?

oldknotty
I have Lokpilot basics in other locos and they run over the same track well surely two cannot be bad at the same time ????

Silver Sidelines
Hello Martin Have you sorted it yet? I do tend to think that if it is only one or two items of rolling stock that have a problem, that the problem is with the rolling stock and not the track. The fact that you have problems with two similar models is perhaps just coincidence. You don't say much about the track location. Are there points or crossing involved - so perhaps shorting as the back of the wheel flange touches something that it shouldn't? I don't know anything about the Dapol model but my Bachmann Twins are heavy little beasts. What about rail joints? Have you got a 'slack' rail joiner that moves under the weight of the engine? In fact have you any soldered electrical connections in the vicinity which are acting a dry joint? I guess you have carefully watched the engines moving at the offending location - no special detail on the 'Twins' that catches or rubs against something critical? Despite my earlier comments I would doubt that both Dapol and Bachmann models are 'duff' - there has got to be a logical answer - you just haven't spotted it yet. Regards Ray Ray I am fitting the two locos with Zimo decoders fitted with TCS keep alive devices which are good enough to run a loco on a plastic sheet for about 12" or better .I will see what that does :-) Thanks for taking time to offer advice much appreciated . oldknotty
Solved the problem with the two LMS twins , My buddy hooked me up with a couple of TCS stay alive decoders , now they run as well as all my other locos on the track :-)
