switcher 1
Today I went to vote for some items/manufacturers, only to find very restricted choices being offered; what do you think?
RMweb Premium uax6 Posted January 27, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 27, 2014 I was very disappointed, I couldn't vote for any of the scratchbuilds that appear on here, and are all far more deserving! Andy G
34theletterbetweenB&D
Today I went to vote for some items/manufacturers, only to find very restricted choices being offered; what do you think? First check the terms of reference of the process. Two that immediately come to mind are the types of product eligible, and the date range when the product was first introduced to the UK market that qualifies it as a 2013 item. RMweb Gold PhilH Posted January 27, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 27, 2014 Surely the answer is if there's nothing you want to vote for, then, um, don't vote. My personal choice of people to run this country is at odds with who we are presented with, so I apply the same principle....
Andy Y
The poll includes RTR items released during the year of 2013. The same principle as every other year when we and Model Rail have organised the poll. What wasn't included?
Unknown Warrior
I suppose there were one or two items that had been reviewed in some magazines in 2013 but didn't make it into the shops until January. The Bachmann Dukedog and J11 spring to mind

The Bachmann Dukedog and J11 spring to mind Exactly the case there; they didn't hit any shelves until January so they'll be in next year's vote. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted January 27, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 27, 2014 The Poll brought into focus the limited number of items produced in the year and back-log of "proposed" items. Paul You should have been around in the 1960s - the 'Model Of The Year' back then was the one that was introduced that year This poll shows just how much our hobby has advanced when you look at the contenders and note that not only are there a reasonable number in almost all categories but in some cases it is extremely difficult to choose between them. Pete 75C
Today I went to vote for some items/manufacturers, only to find very restricted choices being offered; what do you think? Er. Nope. Seems ok to me...
Unknown Warrior
The Poll brought into focus the limited number of items produced in the year and back-log of "proposed" items. Paul How much do you want in a year Paul? admittedly Hornby has been a bit slow - just the Star, the Duke and the Sentinel plus GWR shunter's truck, LMS CCT and Railroad Mk1s, but Bachmann have delivered the 4F, LMS Twins, L&Y 2-4-2T, Dukedog, GCR J11 plus Mk 1 Sleeper, Polybulk, Covhop, not to mention 3 NRM limited editions and quite a few reliveries and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head. Oh and the Western from Dapol. Fortunately I didn't want all of them, my bank account is reeling as it is, it's quite relieved there might be a little breathing space before the Garratt and the P2, not to mention another avalanche from Bachmann starting in the summer with the LMS Porthole stock! November - December 2014 looks as if it could be quite expensive, if present schedules are to be believed!

You tell 'em Mike. . I was looking to vote for the following (i) Tri-ang 0-4-0 steeple cab (ii) Tri-ang Super 4 track, and (iii) Perfecta motorising kit for the Kitmaster 'Pug' and (iv) the Gaiety 57xx pannier . I was and have had to wait best part of 60 years for an East Anglian based rtr steam loco to be released (Tri-ang B12 was always considered a "toy", not "model") Paul
