D400
Hello everyone hope you can help. A few weeks ago I purchased a DCC fitted Bachmann Class which was performing perfectly fine but now isn't. The directional lights don't work on DCC however curiously do on DC. To make it worse the same happens even when I change the chip for another (including different manufacturers of chip). What puzzles me is why does it work on DC but not DCC? Any help would be great! Cheers, Bruce
Orange Alco
erm, stupid question that has to be asked but have they been turned on with the controller?
D400
erm, stupid question that has to be asked but have they been turned on with the controller? I had - but the plot thickens. I tried the chip out of the 40 in a different loco and had the same problem; reset it with CV8 which fixed it; transferred back to class 40 and success, however when I changed the cvs (to change the address) it came back again, attempt to reset whilst in class 40 and got "short circuit whilst programming" on my controller. Basically I believe there is something wrong with the 40 PCB which is causing chips to short when reprogramming - the a same results have occurred with 3 different chips from 3 different manufactures. I'm loathed to send the model back due to a shortage of them and also due the fact that I've started detailing this one already - I can work around the problem by programming the chip in a different loco, however I'm wondering if there will be any further problems on future. Hmmm. Bruce
Phil S
Do the directonal light now come on and off as the speed of the loco changes???? If so - and it is suggested by your having happen after reprogramming - that you are being inconsistanr in your choice of 14 and 28/128 speed step modes: What value have you been writing into CV29 ? eg 6 or 38 ( the 6 for 1-99 [2-digit], and 38 for 100-9999 [4-digit] in Expressnet, for example and has your controller accidentally changed to 14 speed steps? The original standard was 14 speed steps - used from Zero-1 through to nmra dcc in its early years. It is STILL the default for LGB MTS controllers in G Scale. [28 with Massoth handsets] With the Roco Multimaus, the handset is easily cycled through 14/28 and 128 steps, and the value may be stored loco-by-loco when using the Library - HOWEVER with the MultimausPRO an 'error' in default settings with the latest firmware causes 14 to the default ... whilst the Multimaus has always been default to 28. Additional option: have the switches for the cab lights and tail lights become changed or intermittant ??? ... but this wouldn't affect the forward lights
