Good morning

While watching the rain coming down I decided to look into Irish narrow gauge railcar kits, I know of the Worsley works one but there does not seem to be any others around when surfing the web. I have seem models listed on eBay as built from resin kits, does anyone know of suppliers of such items. I believe there was a white metal kit at some time.anyinfo most welcome, planing for next project when I get around to building current one!

Cheers Mike

GEM did Railcars 19 & 20 the two that went to the Isle of Mann as part of their IOM range. The GEM range is now in the hands of Lychett Manor Models but I don't think they have rereleased any of the 009 kits yet...

I'd want to start with a 1/76th scale vintage bus and work back, I think. Plenty N-gauge chassis available to pick from so bodywork would be your biggest problem. eBay for Vintage Bus or Vintage Bus Kit might be a good starting point. An EFE Leyland TD1 with the top floor knocked off and the rear wheel arches filled in would get a lot of the 'look' of some Irish units.

Elsewhere it has been discussed that the market for Irish NG is so small, no models are currently in production. That includes the Backwoods offerings, as these would require a major investment by Pete in new parts. If you're really into the Irish NG scene, expect to be scratchbuilding quite a lot of it :(

It was much the same back in 2000, but when I ordered a CDRJC Class 5 kit from Backwoods, it was ready in four weeks and I picked it up from the Warley show that year.

The Merit/Peco Maudsley bus would be a good start, and being plastic would be easy to convert, I have seen several so converted.

Thanks for the replies , have been thinking along the bus/ lorry conversion route today one or two of the Pocketbond lorry's have a cab that looks possible then it's a case of suitable coach foe the rest of it. Will look more into this I think.
