RMweb Gold 4630 Posted February 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 12, 2014 A whole new range of opportunities opening up for enterprising manufacturers to add 'entertaining' images to their rolling stock. The Bigbee Line
For me the jury's out on this one. I will weather stock, but my time period stops before this became the norm. Not to say there wasn't tagging before, it started apparently in the 20's, mainly chalking. A famous example is HOWEVER....... If modelled it needs to be accurately researched and applied. One good thing is you can produce your own decals from the prototype.
The Bigbee Line
..but it makes a change from the norm. Nice to see that the artist masked the mandatory lettering, nice touch. Means it might not get touched by the owners

Prof Klyzlr
Dear RMwebbers, Apparently at some later stage it was "sanitised"... http://www.flickr.com/photos/kkaf/8563099048/ If the girl standing in front of DWC 794370 is the painter, she's one of a very rare breed... Jaz
Love the work, shan't be attempting to do it in 00 anytime soon. In my opion it is not nudity that is offence, but some peoples reaction. The pose is not crude, and the colours work really well wit hthe livery, the signature is subtle also. Frankly it is a well balanced piece of work. Just wish I was capable of painting it. Glorious NSE
Spoilsports! It's a fascinating pointer to America's national psyche with regards to this kind of thing, but I suspect it's well off topic for here.

I reckon she was the model - although it might be a self portrait.

Jon Gwinnett
However much I like this sort of "nature", it's still criminal damage and whoever painted it was still trespassing And I take issue with this being so openly publicized, as those painters crave for recognition and "respect" from their peers... This link is going to irritate Dutch_Master even more, since it's closer to home.
