My copy was awaiting me on return from holiday so I thought I'd give it a thread with the books name in the title.

A follow on from Alan Davies' 'Walkden Yard', it's a similar format though running to over 200, well illustrated, pages.

The first 172 pages are devoted to the steam locomotives which worked the system (few diesels saw any service on the system). Featured in name order, they were all named, each loco has two or three illustrated pages devoted to it.

The second part of the book has a page or two devoted to each colliery which the system served. Each pit has a map or plan and one or two captioned photographs.

There are sixteen pages of colour photographs in the middle, including a couple showing the outstanding 7mm models of Philip Hindley (PGH) of this parish, who also supplied some of the photographs.

Great inspiration for those interested in industrial railways and colliery systems in particular.
