HI lads,

I wonder if you guys could be of some help here?. Got a class 20 chassis which my friend put in a MRC Sound Card. The instructions advised just wire up the sound card to the Terminals of the motor and hey presto. The sound Card does not have a decoder but the loco has an 8 pins installed.

The thing is the sounds just ticks over and does not throttle up when the power is put on. Runs fine otherwise on DCC

any ideas. The Capicator is still on the motor but I doubt this is the cause?

Heres is some pics of the Installation:

  Many thanks

You need to ensure that the MRC Sound Card is wired to the pick up wires BEFORE the other non sound decoder. Your pic suggests that you have wired it direct to the motor which is AFTER the non sound decoder. Then you will need to try and match the relevant CV readings in BOTH decoders.

You will be burning a lot of midnight oil and might not be impressed with the result.

The Sound card is just a Generator not a Decoder, Its meant to work of DC when the power goes up so does the sound but it does not work coming off the motor which are in turn fed by the Orange and grey wires which is strange, It Just ticks over no matter how much throttle is given.

I dunno I will just hand it back I think

cheers

George
