The hatches in the cab roof are modelled open - maybe they were left like that and had either very tall drivers, or a stepladder in the cab?!! The coned enclosed bunker which was retrofitted to most was among other things an attempt to limit coal dust ingress to the cab when working bunker first, with some success.
