Glorious NSE
Not sure i'd neccesarily call it "simple" (as it's very configurable) - but i'm a fan of JMRI Ops (which you have already if you have JMRI decoderpro on your computer...)
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted April 10, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 10, 2014 I have used JMRI for decoder CV reading / setting and alos for contorlling tuenouts, block detection (in a very basic form so far) track plans etc. and wireless control. Its a superb programme -daunting at first but well worth putting the effort inot learning it. Ops use is something I have yet to play with. rodshaw
My own re-vamped switching spreadsheet http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/newsforyou/switcher.xls may be of interest. It has a number of user-definable options and is a bit more flexible and, hopefully, a bit more realistic than the previous version. I wrote it to provide a bit of variety when operating at exhibitions and it seems to work well enough, at least for a small layout. Instructions are at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/newsforyou/computerised%20switching.pdf
F-UnitMad
Two things I would want from a switchlist program.... 1. Available for Linux/open source. 2. The ability to "follow on" from one list to the next, if that makes sense. 3. ... Sorry, the Three things I would want from a switchlist program.... 3. Still simple to use. 4. .... I'll come in again.....
F-UnitMad
Sorry, Monty Python Mode /off.... Quick google for "switchlist generator linux" just threw up this link... http://www.sol.me.uk/download/switchlist/index.html Mentions Mr Shortliner by name, too, so will have to investigate further.... rodshaw
Just in case anyone has been using my switcher spreadsheet, I've been doing a few bug-fixes and minor enhancements in the last few weeks so it could be worth you doing another download. The instructions have been updated as well.
rodshaw
I've done another update to my switcher spreadsheet and it will now let you print out the list of moves in a sort of car card/waybill format. You can also allocate the same car to more than one load. Happy New Year one and all.
rodshaw
Should anyone be interested I have converted my Excel switchlist generator into a 'proper' Windows program, independent of Microsoft Office. It can be downloaded using the link in my signature below, as can the instructions. It's been tested with McAfee antivirus. It works ok with Windows 8 and I see no reason why it shouldn't run on 7 and 10. It won't run on non-Windows platforms - but at least the source code should be portable.
