Wagon Underframe Pics

Recommended Posts

During a day out on the Bluebell at Horsted Keynes I found this wagon underframe by one of the platforms, and as I would like to start building my own wagons, thought a few pics might be useful as a reference later.

Not sure if this will be of any use to anyone on here, but I thought I would put them up. I for one wasn't sure exactly how all the parts go together on the real thing, but a good look round this one has answered a lot of questions.

Pictures like this are always useful.  As someone with the saddest collection of underframe pictures I would offer a couple of hints.  Use 'fill in' flash, helps with definition.  Take more pictures rather than less, with digital images there's no limit.  Take pictures at high definition and rest the camera on a hard surface if your not using a tripod.

This is one of a series of pictures showing how the side stanchions on MKA wagons join the floor.  Loads of variations, only apparent when I looked at the pictures.

Final hint; start with the first image being the wagon number, then a 3/4 view.  Good memory joggers, when your thinking 'what wagon was that?'
