Heljan Class 14 NCB's Brand New - What are they worth?

Recommended Posts

I've dug my trains out and discovered I've got 2 brand new limited edition Heljan Class 14's in NCB livery, I completely forgot I had them, they've never been out of the box!

Any idea what they are worth? I certainly don't need two and I'd quite like one in ex BSC livery

Cheers,

Dan

How do you manage to have two locos you don't even remember having?!

I bought two of them when they were first released thinking the price would go up like the Deltic Prototype did which in turn would discount the purchase of the first. Bought them, lifted the lid off the box of one of them to have a look and then put them in the loft.

Circumstances changed and I moved away from the hobby, all my stuff been left in my ex girlfriends Dad's loft and there they have stayed.

Moving on 4 to 5 years I've recently bought a house and with the thought of being able to have a layout again, I went and paid them a visit to recover my locos and lenz control system from the loft. I had some vague memory of an NCB 14 being up there. Went up in the loft and lifted the lid off said Heljan Box and then thought why is there a second box there? Was pleasantly surprised, completely forgot I'd bought two!

I'd forgot quite how much stuff I'd actually left there to be honest so it was a good day  :)

Timex : Rolex. Same number of letters, much in common, but one just slightly more desireable than the other.

Hold on to your final thought above. Money spent in the past and the results forgotten, it's all truly a bonus now, since you actually have something to show for it! Generally rising prices for RTR are going to help too in terms of realising a decent value on any items that you want to sell.

Thats the case for the 14's, I wish I could say the same about my other rolling stock.

My ex's Dad took it upon himself to store the other locos and he's treat them as if they were his triang trains from when he was a lad, all stacked up in a box. The result, numerous handrails broken, fine details bits missing and a Class 60 and Class 31 with broken buffers. Hopefully all repairable  :dontknow:
