stewartingram
I assume you mean the tender drive Hornby Ringfield? With a small pair of pliers (or tweezers), and the motor unit laid on its side with the brushes pointing upwards, bend the silver clips up; these are the ones that bear on the springs. Do this slowly, one brush at a time; this releases the tension on the springs. Once the tension has gone the springs can easily be removed. If the brushes stick, just turn the motor over and tap it on the table. Assembly is a reversal of this, one brush/spring at a time. Just pop them in place and bend back the clips. I usually then add a touch of solder to the capacitor (tv suppressor) to hold it in place, though not absolutely necessary. Stewart
