saveric
Hi, I bought an old style 33/0 (33045 i think) second hand. It was advertised with some front cab windows missing so I ordered replacements from Howes. Now try as I might they wont fit in. They look like they go in from the front but look dreadful done that way. They are too big to fit in from behind. I have tried them in all known orientations. Now I know I must be doing something fundamentally stupid but the wretched things have me stumped. Any advice? Kind Regards, Saveric
Andrew F
Hello Saveric Could it be that you have the replacement windows for the new tooling 33?. I think Heljan modified the window spacing on the new one so the glazing may differ. Even if they're the correct ones they can be a swine to fit; I push them in from the back and often have to rub all 4 edges with finishing paper until they fit snug, especially after a re-spray. I suggest you do this and don't force them in. I call these Fox's glacier glazing for a reason. Andy
dj_crisp
It sounds like you may have the wrong size...and all Heljan 33s have different window sizes. As Andy says you may have the new 33/0 set where they improved the front windows. If you're totally stumped I should have a spare set for a old style 33/0 as I'm just fitting a laserglaze set to a long term project Will
The Dorset Wanderer
Will the Heljan ones fit the Hornby Railroad version?
dj_crisp
I'll be surprised if they do although I've only owned Heljan 33s
SRman
Will the Heljan ones fit the Hornby Railroad version? Short answer: no! The Hornby, ex-Lima model has somewhat smaller windows.
RMweb Gold pheaton Posted June 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2014 The Heljan 33/0 33/1 and 33/2 all use different windows!!! I found this out a while back when I had to replace some windows in a 33/1 and most of the windows very kindly donated to me wouldn't fit.
