I am surprised that the Neptune track recorder is on the list as this would be a major milestone in track maintenance!

Rather a shame if it does leave the national collection - it was on display in the main building at Shildon when I last visited.

Are you sure they only have the one? Collections can sometimes end up with duplicates.

Just like they have two steam generators, handy for a EE type 3 or 4.

We decided that a better future for our Neptune lay outside the collection and I'm pleased to say that a group has expressed interest in taking it on. Sometimes it's about who best can look after something and give it a future, and to be honest it hasn't been a high priority.

So does that mean you'll be selling of the GWR whitewash coach as well?
