daifly
Photographic evidence suggests that it may have been a BR-period modification to locos shedded at Weymouth during the 1950s. 1369 had been at Weymouth in GWR days but didn’t return there until 1960 by which time, it seems, the practice had ceased. 1367/8/70 all had the steps fitted. 1366/9/71 never had the steps. There is a photo of the step in use here (but you may need to be a WT member to view it) http://www.westernthunder.co.uk/index.php?threads/does-anyone-know-where-or-when.5772/#post-145487 Dave Edited April 6, 2018 by daifly
