Castlecombe and Molton Central layout

Hi All,

I am wondering if any Member might be able to help me with this.

Many years ago in my formative years in the hobby I read an article about a layout called Castlecombe and Molton Central.

This layout left a lasting impression on me and i'd love to see that article again after all these years.

Something makes me think it might have been in the Railway Modeller but I'm not at all sure.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the article and where I might get a copy.

Very many thanks for any help.

Regards

Definitely Railway Modeller. Mid to late 60s I think.

A quick Google search seems to show up Railway Modeller July 1963 as being the required magazine.

As to a copy, Ebay isn't a bad bet. There's a few listed on there at the moment

Hi My Friend (or G'Day)

Thankyou so much for the tip off 69834 - I went straight over to the dreaded auction site and I've bought a copy for a reasonable 3.99 post free.

Looking forward to re-reading the article but whats even better the description tells me there is an article on Jim Russells 'Little Western' loco fleet as well - another influence in my formative years.

Cant thank you enough for taking the trouble to let me know.

Best Wishes from this side of the world mate.

Best Regards

I'm glad that the tip-off proved useful (and correct!)

All I can say now is enjoy the magazine. £3.99 is not a bad price at all.

Hi 69843,

Just a quick update my friend - I put the price wrong in my post - it was actually 2.99 with free postage so as you say wasn't bad at all.

I'm really looking forward to reading the mag after all these years.

Once again very many thanks for your help, its very much appreciated.

Best Regards

Hi My Friend,

Just to let you know the magazine has just arrived and i've had a quick look through.

Its the correct on with the layout in that i've wanted to re-read for many years plus several more articles that will be a wonderful trip back to my formative years in the hobby.

Some of the adverts are fabulous - Hattons of course have many bargains available!.

Once again my friend thankyou so much for pointing me in the right direction.

Looking forward to settling down this evening and being transported back in time.

All the very best.

Hi 69843,

Appologies for not doing this sooner.

Thanks to your help i've now been able to read the article a couple of times.

I was actually surprised at how much I seemed to remember when it came to it and it was so nice to be transported back to those more gentle days.

Of course the article on Jim Russells 'Little Western' locos was also so nice to see as he was another influence on my formative years.

What really was nice was to look through the adverts - would love to get some of the things advertised, especially at those prices!.

Once again very many thanks for you kind help.

Best Wishes
