gordon s
I have a couple of Class 37's with sound chips that I bought off eBay a few years back. I'm now thinking of selling them and for the life of me cannot recall which sound chips were fitted. I've run them on my programming track and the code that comes up is 151 and the version 59. I believe they are ESU from one list I found on the web, but am not sure how to read this one that has been published before. http://jmri.sourceforge.net/xml/XSLT/pages/DecoderId.html Can anyone tell me which sound chips they are as I want to ensure an accurate description when I come to sell them. Thanks.
RMweb Gold pheaton Posted August 4, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 4, 2014 Gordon,Best thing to do is describe the models, to us...livery and loco number if they are factory fitted sound 37s identifiable by the DCC sound logo then its likely they are LOKSOUND 3.5s But obviously if they are custom fitted locomotives the chip could be anything. gordon s
Thanks Simon. They are custom built locos and having read through the table 151/59 would suggest ESU Loksound decoders. I would guess I bought the locos 6-7 years ago, maybe less. They are Bachmann 37's but heavily modified internally. As I'm selling them on eBay, I wanted to be as accurate as possible with the description. I bought them from a well known modeller who had or worked on a layout that I thought involved containers and Heljan cranes, but for the life of me I can't recall his name or the layout. I thought it was Dyserth Road, but I must be wrong as that has neither. Maybe I'll ask the question in another thread.
RMweb Gold pheaton Posted August 4, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 4, 2014 Hi Gordon, Do they sound anything like this? If so they would Howse sounds on going by the age you have specified 3.5 decoders,.....to be honest though the price they will realize wont be much different even if they were fitted with v4 decoders different. if your putting them on ebay i would try and picture the internals as if its a good speaker installation that would raise more money. How much are you looking for the transrail one out of interest? Thanks Simon
Nick G
The locos belonged to John who had a layout called Norton Road and was of course one of my operators on Dyserth Road and Holland Park. I am positive they are early V3? South West Digital chips.
gordon s
Many thanks Nick. That helps considerably. Will I be able to map out all the functions using a SPROG, as I'm sure I have packed away the data sheets John gave me when I bought them... They are both listed on eBay with a reserve of £125. daveymills
hi Gordon If you are prepared to remove the body ESU v3.5 and v4 chips are easily distinguishable visually. Also the ohm rating of the speakers differ for each version too - this is given on the back of the speaker, but often becomes illegible over time regardsDave
