Have you heard that from Bachmann or are you just going on the wording from Hattons.

They do have a tendency to be somewhat general in their notes.

Cancelled in Hattons language could mean that they are uncertain regarding information and computer he say pull the plug.

A slight side point, now all of the 70s have been upgraded with the reliability mods, including the obvious box, what would be the prototypes range for the model be? 2010 to 2014(ish)? I guess that is the danger of modelling a locomotive when it first appears. All said and done though, I suspect that the advent of the new Colas livered locos will prompt a rethink on their 70s mould.

I thought Bachmann cancelled the sound one ages ago - they said at the time that they didn't have the necessary sound recordings but that they could revive the idea further down the track.

It may be that Hattons hadn't updated their listings to match until now.

They haven't all been upgraded - yet. The Freightliner locos are gradually being modified, taking one or two out of service at a time. I think about 5 or 6 have been done so far.

Note that the original Bachmann class 70 model is only good for the original release of 70001-70006 anyway. (Flush cabsides on 70007 upwards)

There's always a problem with modelling reasonably recent stuff - witness the Northern Belle 47's - 47832 is reported to be withdrawn before Rail Exclusives have released their Limited Edition and Hornby's faux-pas when releasing the Class 67 in EWS as 67001, when it was well known that it had recently been repainted into Arriva blue..........

Cheers,

Mick

Maybe the shipment containing the 70002' s was dropped on the quayside when it was being unloaded from the ship!
