Changing Older-style N Farish Couplings

Hi all,

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to fit a shorter coupling to the older Farish rolling stock with the spring inside the coupling housing?

I have had a look around for this but can only find results relating to the newer short-shank couplings (which I have) but these only fit the newer coupling housings.

Can anyone advise me please?  I'd like to close the gaps up a bit on my older stock without having to saw off the box and use paperclips or something!!

Thank you

David

Hi,

I did a fair bit on this subject a few months ago, but it's hidden. Unfortunately my copy and paste function does not work for me in this site for some reason, so...........

The thread is in the Farish section and is called NEM Coupling pocket: new design, see the photos, they are what you are looking for, this is all non-NEM stock

Go to post #8 and click on the link to Eichhorn Modelbau and the item number is 13043.

He speaks English and takes Paypal which keeps bank charges down.

if you click on the active link on the item number, you will arrive at more details - yes all in German but the photos are self explanatory. The effect is best on MK3s, old MK2s, and wagons, the old MK1s still have a larger gap, though it is markedly less.

Hope this helps
