gordon s
Anyone able to give me a definitive answer on what eBay charges if you set a reserve price and the item doesn't reach the reserve and remains unsold. I've searched the eBay site high and low and it's something that appears to be very well hidden. The only thing I found was a US page which talked about a $2 charge on items up to $200 and then a 1% charge on everything else. Is that the same for the UK? If so, something with a reserve of £1000 would cost £10 in fees if it doesn't sell. No doubt plus other charges as well... Can anyone throw any light on it for me? Pugsley
From here: http://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/introduction-ebay-fees Setting a reserve price for your auctionsYou can choose the minimum you're wiling to sell your item for. If you set a reserve price of £50 or more, you’ll pay 4% of that price as a fee. You’ll never pay a reserve fee more than £150 per item.
gordon s
Hi Martin, before I posted on here, I must have gone to that specific page a dozen times and still couldn't find a clear statement that said the fees on an item with a reserve that didn't sell are £x or x%. Apologies for being dense, but can you give me a link to a specific page or even better a snapshot pic of the information as I still can't see it. The problem I have is that I might advertise something with a value well over £1000, so that will be my reserve price. It might run for two or even three periods of a week without selling, but I have no doubt it will go. I need to calculate what the fees will be and when I will reach a point where a reduction in price might offset the charges that could be incurred. The example I saw showed 2% as the fee. You are saying 4%, hence the confusion... If anyone else wants to chip in, please do…:-)

Hayfield2
Gordon I don't know about high value items, but I use the 20 free listings a month, never bother with a reserve. But I start items at the minimum I am happy to accept. Never paid any charges foe either unsold or relisting. You may well be able to start something at a high price but accept offers if no one bids at the starting price
gordon s
Its under optional listing upgrades, below the first green bar. 4% it is...... Sorry guys, please give me a link to that page. It's not that I don't believe you, I just want to know where it is hiding and why I can't find it myself....:-)
Dungrange
Gordon, Go to the link that Martin posted. scroll down until you get to the heading "Insertion fees and optional listing upgrades". Under the first four bullets you will find a hyperlink that states "Optional listing upgrades". Click on this and this section expands. scroll to the bottom of this set of tables and you have the 4% figure. Regards David
