Man of Jam
LATE CHANGE IN VENUE The Soar Valley MRC will be holding their annual "Heart of the Midlands" Model Railway Exhibition at the Holywell Park Conference Centre on the Loughborough University campus over the weekend of 6th and 7th September 2014. Please note the change in venue within the university, as our original plans to use the Netball and Badminton Centre were scuppered when the boiler sprang a leak and flooded the floor, causing substantial damage and rendering the venue useless for our purposes. Visitors should therefore use the West entrance for the University Campus, on the A512 New Ashby Road, to gain access to the campus closer to our hastily organised, revised venue. Man of Jam
Hi Tim Sorry I couldnt respond sooner. I have just got in from helping to set up the halls etc. On Saturday, the Kinchbus "Sprint" service runs every 20 minutes from the Station(BR not GCR), through the town centre (Ashby Square stop AA) to various locations on the university campus, which is on the western edge of the town. We have been in touch with Kinchbus and they have assured us that they will assist those people unfamiliar to the area by telling the passengers when to disembark for our exhibition halls. On Sunday, there is a reduced service which starts at 12.00pm from the station and this runs every 40 minutes. the journey time is 20 minutes in total. D9JEF
Went to the SVMRC show with my 5 year old today. Spent a lovely couple of hours there with a good selection of layouts. Particularly impressed with Meadow Lane TMD and Hindlow although to be fair there wasn't a layout that I thought was poor. Well worth a visit and thanks to the chap selling static grass who gave my boy a piece of card that had been treated. He did nothing but talk about it and tell everyone how happy he was - Double O Scenics was the trader. New venue so much better than the old school.
