paulbb
3 cheers for this retailer. I ordered a Bachmann engine late Wednesday night, and it arrived today, and at a very cheap postal rate. There was a note with the parcel saying that the engine had been tested, and by whom. A short DC test was followed by DCC fitting, whereupon the little black engine (Fowler4F) ran perfectly and smoothly with 20 coal wagons, just like it should! Never used them before and I have no connection with them either, but will certainly buy from them again. Paul
RMweb Premium Legend Posted September 5, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 5, 2014 Yes I use them because they test locos before despatch. Saves all the hassle of returning if you get a defective loco
RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted September 6, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2014 Used them for years. They are efficient and reasonable.
Satan's Goldfish
This is good to read, just ordered from them and can't recall having heard of them before. Their prices were cheap for what i was looking for (no longer available from the bigger shifters so fetch an ebay premium) so got them saved on my internet 'favorites' now. muddys-blues
Hi, I have used HMC before a good few times, never had a problem with them, always top service. Happy modelling Craig.
LNER4479
Visited the place itself (for the first time) on Monday. Great 'Aladdin's Cave' shop to wander and browse round without mither, plenty of second hand stuff in all gauges. Got all the bits n pieces I was after. Handy for the railway station too. Guest 43300
I ordered a loco from them last night for a project I'm planning (their website showed three in stock). I also ordered some stock to go with it from elsewhere. This morning I had a 'refund' notice from Paypal with the note from the seller 'Item now out of stock'. Annoying, given that I've also ordered some stock to go with it so will have to find the loco elsewhere (not found anywhere else with it in stock so far). Not impressed - stock level of 3 on website but actually have none left, and can't even be bothered to send an email to apologise. This is the first time I've tried to order anything from them, and it will be the last!

But at least they refunded your payment immediately - unlike other firms who simply hold it until the next time they have sufficient orders to make it worthwhile for them to place an order! And yes - I have had to wait 9 months for something to come back into stock!

locoholic
They're a great shop with very competitive prices, but a bit chaotic, and their website is not updated in real-time. Always better to phone to check stock availability, which I realise is a bit of an anachronism these days. However, this also means that they do sometimes have stock that is NOT on their website, so again a phone call might pay off.
RMweb Premium jjb1970 Posted March 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 29, 2015 I'm very happy with them, they may not have the presence of the big box shifters but they have some great obsolete models and don't charge ridiculously inflated prices for this older stock like a certain other shop. Last week I ordered a DCC fitted Hornby 56049 for £84, and a Bachmann DCC fitted Warship in blue for £65. They often have stuff that has long sold out at the bigger on-line sellers and offer very fair prices. I'd recommend them.
Harry Lime
Just another very satisfied customer! I ordered a Hornby Colas 56 on Tuesday, by Thursday it had been delivered by the Post Office, the old-fashioned way. HMC has already tested it for me so I am looking forward to running it on Loftus Road sometime soon. Thank you, Hereford Model Centre for doing a fantastic job! RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted August 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 29, 2015 Odd,because I still can't.....from both my main pc and my i-pad. John Tomlinson
I think their Ebay items are only as small part of the total stock for sale. I picked up a Railroad P2 this week from the Ebay site, which seemed to have around 20 items in total. John.
RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted August 30, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2015 Certain items appear on their e bay site only...the Hornby Crostis for instance. My I pad can pick up the main site....but not my PC at present.
RMweb Gold ruggedpeak Posted March 5, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2016 With no sign of the Bachmann 121, I ordered one of Hereford's remaining Hornby NSE 121's to play with. Arrived promptly and tested as always, under £50 for a very smooth running DMU that can be detailed or converted later.
centraltrains
With no sign of the Bachmann 121, I ordered one of Hereford's remaining Hornby NSE 121's to play with. Arrived promptly and tested as always, under £50 for a very smooth running DMU that can be detailed or converted later. Now I know who beat me to that item! Was going to order one of those to make my Lima Silverlink 121 run better, good job their was one Chiltern left in stock (however it was just over £50! ) I have never had a problem with Hereford model centre. Often buy from them online and when they go to Warley. Would like to visit their shop one day! I always find their selection of stock online very satisfactory. I find it best to ring first and because they are a couple of hours drive from me in Oxfordshire. Its good going to the shop. Staff very friendly and helpful.
