cheesysmith
Does anyone know if anybody makes the compressor box for the Hornby 08? I am referring to the one that goes between the fuel tank and the battery box covering the vents for the generator. I am wanting to add one to one of my models to create a specific loco that Hornby hasn't done yet.
br2975
You mean for a dual or air brake fitted loco ? . Not aware of one available commercially, but there are lots of scale drawings of 08s from which you could knock-up a plasticard box. . RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted November 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2014 Try RT Models 4mm Locomotive Parts 4SLP0023 is this what you are looking for? (Usual disclaimer!) Cheers That's the front box (alternative style), not the left hand 'air compressor' box I'm sure someone once did an etched version (I remember folding it up and adding it to a Wrenn body), but a quick check of A1, Shawplan/EE gives no joy... I wonder if it came with either the Impetus or Crownline 08 chassis kits?? Another option would be to find a Lima 08 shell and scavenge the box from that, though it might need modifying to fit a correctly spaced Bachmann/Hornby version (The LIma and Wrenn bodies both had similar dimensional issues...) I would offer the remains of an old Lima shell, but it got lobbed at my last clear out a month or so back, sorry.

I will have a look over the weekend for the ones I removed off a pair of Hornby 350s that are going to become a master and slave unit.
lyneux
Bump... I am also after one. If someone can supply me one I can copy it in resin. As a reminder, this is the one:
Lochnagar
I've got a spare Bachmann 08 body with one of these on? I think. .
lyneux
Looking at it further, there are more differences. The box in front of it is actually shortened and the bodyside door is cut in an L-shape. It feels like too much work to convert all of that, so I might just go for selling the one I have and obtaining one that is correct, maybe even a Hornby one as it's a bit better than the Bachmann. Lochnagar, what colour is your body shell? PM me if it's going spare and I'll make you an offer. Cheers, Guy
