matt9f
Hi all, I'm pretty certain the cab light or the wiring between the cab light and the plug for one end is faulty, but i just want to be sure before i send it back round to the UK.Iv'e fitted a Hornby Sapphire decoder so it has enough functions to control the two cab lights. Iv'e also tinkered with the CV values for #36, only to have other lights come on or nothing at all. This is using railmaster. Directional lights and the other cab light work fine.I pressed the plug to the underside of the socket where it is soldered to the circuit board, while the F1 function is on. The one cab light works across both pairs of pins while the other light does neither. Iv'e attached some photos to show what i mean.Am i missing something on the DCC side of things or am i correct and need to return it? Ta in advance,Matt
smokebox
Are the cab lights directionally controlled, so that you only get one cab light on at a time, depending on direction?
SRman
No, they aren't set up to be directionally controlled. They should work with functions 1 ad 2 as a default on a four function decoder.Matt9f: what happens if you replace the blanking plug and try it on DC analogue power? matt9f
No directional control i'm afraid smokebox. I can't get the one light to come on at all.SRman, i ran the loco in on DC and only got the same one cab light going in both directions. Would that have been the giveaway to you? i'd imagine both lights would be on with DC power. Then again i thought two lights might have been a DCC only feature. SRman
Both cab lights would/should have come on on DC, so it does look like the light or wiring to it are faulty on your model.
matt9f
Ok thanks for the confirmation SRman, back it goes. Cheers all
Xerces Fobe2
I have Dapol class 22 which i purchased seconhand and only one of the cab likes works. According to the guy I purchased ig from it was due to a deoder issues. i think that the Dapol Clsss 22 may require a specifis decoder for all lights to work. For me i am not a great fan of high visability cab lights, and am i bovered? -no! LOL
RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted February 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 22, 2015 Hi all, I have just bought a second hand Dapol 22 (00) and have no directional lighting or cab lights in either direction running on DC. As I can't send it back to Dapol, any ideas as to what the fault might be / what component I might need to change? Is it possible the previous owner (DCC) could have disabled the lighting - I am running the loco with a blanking plug and not the decoder
