Andrew F
I plan to convert 8 Hornby super-detail Pullmans into the 1951 builds/re-builds and I wonder if anyone has attempted this before or can recommend parts. The bogie sides will have to be replaced with Gresley ones. Are there more than one type of bogie side (eg heavy duty)? and can anyone recommend a supplier (I notice MJT do them)?. The doors have a smaller oval so etches would be appropriate if anyone knows of them. The windows and frames are different. I wonder if the replica Mk1 coach flushglazing would fit or would this be too small?. These are the main things; there's other minor details which could be cobbled together pretty easy. Andrew F
These coaches are well underway; the bodies are pretty much sewn-up. Does anyone have a clear shot or a link to the battery boxes of a '51 or where the brake underframe equipment sits as the brake gear appears strangely absent on the Parlour cars?. There's a good shot on the web of one side of Orion's underframe but I can't tell what the battery boxes are like on the side that's not visible at Beer. As they appear of LNER stock, is there a similar model that can be copied? Cheers Andy
Horsetan
Have you tried Keen Systems for some of the Pullman parts?
Andrew F
Thanks HT. I'd forgotten Keen did Pullman bits. They don't do the underframe bits for the '51's though but I've found out that the VSOE cars Zena/Ione and Lucille share the later '51 underframes and there's some clear pictures of their undercrackers on the web so bingo.
