Robbieb
Hi all My name is Robert, I'm new to the site. I've been wanting to start my own layout for a long time and i'm only starting to plan it now. I have two options, 1) I can use the garden shed, it's 8ft x 10ft. I thought if I went with n gauge I would get a nice size layout in there. 2) I have space in the loft, only problem it's a new house and it's lots of criss - cross trusses. I'm sure it would be possible to work around them. I was wondering if anyone on here has done layouts in similar areas that might be able to give me some pointers and pictures if possible. Many thanks Robert

Il Grifone
Welcome to RMweb! Lofts need proper conversion - the joists are unlikely to be strong enough and the trusses will be a pain. They are also subject to temperature extremes as the house insulation is usually on the floor. A shed will also need insulation and extra security. A proper mains installation is also advisable. RMweb Premium Andy Hayter Posted October 8, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2014 Provided you can make the shed secure, I would go for the shed every time - for the reasons about the difficulties in using the loft as stated above.
