HarryC
Does anybody know the colour of the cab side numbers of WD 2-10-0's when first produced by the North British Locomotive Company?
EddieB
According to Tourret, the first batch (WD 3650-3749) were finished in khaki-brown with "matt golden yellow" numerals on the cab sides. WD 3650 had 6" numerals, the remainder being 8" high. Tenders were marked "WD" in 2" high lettering, separated by a broad arrow The second batch (WD 3750-99) were in "army" green with 8" numerals on the cabsides and 12" lettering on the tenders (with a 10" broad arrow). As it isn't stated explicitly, I would infer that the numbers and lettering were in the same colour as the previous batch. Locomotives of both batches carried 2" high numerals on their buffer beams. (I'm guessing white - again not stated).
