The RMweb Christmas Quiz - Follow yonder Red Star

Obviously everyone's short of anything to do at this time of year so I thought I'd resurrect the parcels quiz from Christmas's of yore.

The concept's simple, one clue each day for twelve days. Our somewhat lost Red Star parcel will make a journey around the country, one journey each day. Each journey is by a direct current day service with no changes.

Day one is to determine the starting point and the picture clue is below.

As a way of checking if your answer is correct one of our helpers Excelf has created a spreadsheet which you can download and put your answer into and it'll tell you if you're right or wrong.

Prepare to be confused and tortured along the way; some clues are easy, some are stinkers and some are facepalms!

I'll give the answer to the preceding day's question when the next one gets dished out.

Good luck and have fun.

Aye.  I'm there with my fellow traveller of the Siamese cat fancy.

EDIT: I'm resting the shed-bash this year, but watch Wheeltappers on Christmas Day afternoon for another UK tour with a twist

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

I'm sure that my parcel has already become lost in the system, and looking at the T's and C's I need to wait 28 days before I can make a claim.

Merry Christmas all.

Handsup who got yesterdays then?

I'm sure many will have realised the significance of one entry whilst googling that made reference to a couple of dozen maidens from the frozen north. A song for gentleman of a certain age and pursuits normally involving beer and all chance of losing said virginity in that state. So the answer was of course Inverness to form the starting point of the journey and onwards to day 2.

I think Excelf needs to become an ex-Elf...

If the Spreadsheet is correct, we are going nowhere and every answer in Inverness. :scratchhead:

On hang on - there aren't any trains on Christmas Day, so maybe todays is correct...

You must have a different Google to me Andy because none of those topics or the name bring up Inverness for my searches.

The first link on my Google search for the name took me here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_H._McClure

Near the bottom of the page is the title of a book he wrote in 1973 . . . . . I'll let you work out the rest - anyway the answer has to be Inverness as Aberdeen wouldn't rhyme with 'less' . . .

Ok now confused...

The answer in not the location of the photo... :scratchhead:

OK; factual error. Spreadsheet amended again and note this station cannot be reached by a single direct service from day one.

Is the station shown in the picture meant to be the correct answer?

IKEA?

Not Ikea but similar, although the spreadsheet still tells me the station location is not the answer unless it's not where I thought it was ? :O

Perhaps trying to understand who's who in Downton Abbey might be easier  :nono: . . . . I'll be back later to see if there have been any clues - as I'm clueless at the moment  :jester:

Yes, hopefully corrected on the spreadsheet now.

Putting in the station in the picture gives the answer on the spreadsheet as "Wrong"

but googling the name of said station brings up the image chosen.

And if you know where it is then my iceberg comment ought to make sense ;)
