Torr Giffard LSWR 1951-71
....Cauldon Low quarry to Angerstein wharf granite blocks for barrier/defence work using former Plate wagons seen passing Cockshute Yard, Stoke-on-Trent. Note the silica sand deposits nearer the camera from sand trains originating at Moneystone quarry, Oakamoor. Similar workings from Tunstead quarry to Port Talbot for dock extension/defence work with limestone blocks ran in the 1960s/70s https://www.flickr.com/photos/barkingbill/2138064739/in/set-72157603696416788 Dave
Fat Controller
Lovely stuff. I preferred the Brett livery before Mr Brett let his grandchildren redesign it. Wonderful selection of 'old' lorries as well. Thanks for posting.

Dave I'd seen drawings and pictures of dead ones, and had a reasonable idea what it was all about with the fittings on the solebar, but I'd not seen one being used in anger. Thanks Dave and BR(S).
