I have recently been scanning some of my negatives from my travels.

August 1988 - think it might have been Crewe in the early hours of the morning. Quality not as good as others.

Manchester Longsight internal user CCT taken 25/4/1992

Finally a pair taken (at home) in Leeds - the Mail depot was the old Wellington Station/Leeds City North now you can travel on 333's from this location on the Aire valley triangle. Taken in July 1992.

Great Pictures AMJ, I do like the mail trains and these photos are ideal as I have changed back to the late 80's/ early 90's so have given me some ideas.

Lets hope people start adding some more to this thread.

Cheers

Scott

That's a Mk1 Courier Vehicle, they were converted from 1986-1988 from BSKs. Number series 80200 - 80229.

Ah, thanks. I was wondering if it was one of the rarely-seen bullion coaches. Evidently not.

Were these for security people to accompany high value loads? Can't seem to find much info about them on the web, other than one which is now a steam loco support coach.

Fantastic photo's! My area of interest is somewhere between 87 and 97 ( give or take a couple of years to round it up to 2000....... well there's so much interesting stuff out there!!!!!). I am particularly interested by mail trains, TPO's etc. So these pic's are great info.

Hoping that a few more find their way on here.

I have seen the Bullion vans in Leeds but I don't think that I had the camera with me that day or didn't realise until I got home the signifigance of the vehicle with the ends plated over where the gangways used to be.

It is suprising how much the skyline of Leeds has changed since the photos above were taken. The Grey Royal Mail building (last pic on the right) has been demolished. There are the flats and offices that now occupy the site.
